About Ashley Smyth

I love the natural world in its in-between spaces—the forested stream behind my old neighborhood, the mountains framing Vancouver, and the moments where people connect with their environments. Besides being beautiful, these spaces shape our communities, well-being, and future. I believe the best ideas on how to protect them are also found in the in-between, where ambition meets viability. That’s why I work at the intersection of policy and action, emphasizing the role of optimistic momentum in dynamic governance to create lasting solutions and actionable climate strategies. What I do- Analyze climate and public policy trends to craft informed recommendations - Engage policymakers, industry leaders, and grassroots organizers to drive systemic change - Advocate for sustainable development education and accessible personal learning with my startup - Collaborate with fellow youth leaders to learn from each other and ground our efforts in tangible, collective impact Where I’m headed- I’m committed to shaping policies as practical as they are bold, ensuring pathways for meaningful, multilevel climate discussions, and promoting people-centered governance that continuously improves If you're working on environmental policy, governance, or sustainable development and innovation, let’s connect!"Yes, we need a robust democracy, but you can be strong, and you can be kind." – Jacinda Ardern
