About Ashley Woods

As a first generation Timorese-American, my experience has had an impact on my unique perspectives and ambitions. Growing up, I watched my mother, who had an 8th grade education, excel at single parenthood and navigate the tricky system of government assistance to equitably provide for me and my sister, all while not having a single person speak her native tongue to assist her. This perseverance has ingrained in me that my growth is limitless if I’m persistent, diligent, and passionate enough. My entire life, I have been a hard worker, a critical thinker, a problem-solver, and an excellence achiever, and I have especially grown in my strength to understand and help develop the skills and talents of others. I spent the past decade working in the mental health field, in which these skills are essential and have afforded me many opportunities, from providing direct service; training, supervising, and managing employees and interns; and speaking on national platforms about mental health. While my skills directly align with the mental health field, they are easily transferable skills that can be valuable to many other industries. In addition to mental health, I am also interested in traveling down unbeaten paths; developing an adventurous palette; sustainability, ecology and conservation; and having a part in creating more equity for marginalized individuals. I also love logic and numbers, and despite never having had the chance to work with them professionally, finishing a book of sudoku or logic puzzles is my idea of fun! Lastly, another passion of mine is running. I'm growing my run coaching and running retreat business, so you can catch me in a street nearby!
