About Ashlin Turner

About my research interests: My lab work focused on biologics drug discovery and structure-function relationships through protein libraries and high-throughput screening. I'm interested in using these techniques to allow for optimization of biologics and guided evolution of proteins. I'm especially interested in the applications of natural products like venoms as natural combinatorial libraries. Past projects included creating libraries of thousands of genetically encoded mutations, high throughput screening in cell-based fluorescence assays to determine function of these mutated proteins, as well as big data mining for deep insight into protein trafficking, signaling, and structure. I'm passionate about the human side of science, actively working to provide mentoring opportunities and supportive collaborative environments for underrepresented groups in STEM.
