About Ashling Mulvaney

With over two decades of international life sciences, sustainability, health equity and global access experience, I am a VP-level senior executive passionate about and committed to social responsibility and impact, particularly in Lower Middle Income Countries (LMICs) and Lower Income Countries (LMCs). I challenge the status quo and champion transformational change through innovative solutions that make a real difference, stimulating growth and strategic opportunities. My career spans the biopharmaceutical industry, with influential positions at AstraZeneca and GSK, and more recently, in the not-for-profit sector as Senior Programme Officer at the Gates Foundation. I am proud to have devised and advocated revolutionary policy recommendations concerning global health and access, which influenced governmental decisions and agendas worldwide. I collaborate with policymakers to deliver radical change on public health issues. One of my standout moments was pioneering AstraZeneca’s Healthy Heart Africa Programme, which evolved into the largest non-communicable disease access initiative covering more than 19 African countries, successfully delivering 40 million healthcare interventions. As VP Global Sustainability Access to Healthcare at AstraZeneca (AZ), I was instrumental in elevating AZ’s Access to Medicines Index ranking from 7th to 3rd via enhanced sustainability access. Over the years, I have forged beneficial international partnerships with renowned organisations, from the United Nations and World Health Organization to the Wellcome Trust, the US Government and GAVI, the vaccine alliance. I lead Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agendas that transcend geographical boundaries, achieving externally recognised results. Demonstrating global product launch experience, I head complex, highly regulated programmes.
