About Ashlyn Clay

As a student at Berry College, I decided to major in nursing. While working towards attaining my bachelor's degree, I was also a member of the Berry College Equestrian Team. I also became a student worker at Berry College. As a student worker, I gave tours at Oak Hill and the Martha Berry Museum, tutored students in mathematics, maintained the equestrian center, assisted in the management of computer laboratories, and worked alongside secretaries. During my time at Berry College, I also completed a nursing internship at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia, and traveled to Costa Rica for a two-week clinical immersion experience in a local city hospital. I graduated Cum Laude. Upon graduation from Berry College, I began my career as a Registered Nurse on the Acquired Brain Injury Unit at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia. I have currently worked at Shepherd Center for over a year and a half while also completing Emory University's MSN program to become a Family Nurse Practioner. Through my experience as a Registered Nurse, I have gained medical knowledge as well as confidence in providing high-quality patient care. As a nurse practitioner student, I also had the opportunity to gain clinical experience in multiple primary care and specialty care settings. With my experience in primary care, I assisted in treating and creating plans of care for patients of all age ranges. I have had the opportunity to gain experience in primary care; occupational health; ear, nose, and throat; pediatrics; cardiology; and obstetrics and gynecology. In December 2018, I graduated from Emory University. I have recently completed and passed the certification examination to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. I have now worked in multiple specialties as a nurse practitioner in the inpatient and outpatient setting to include family practice, ENT, and cardiology.
