About Ashlyn Smith

Hi, I'm Ashlyn Smith, a Junior at Virginia Tech! I am majoring in Finance with concentrations in Investment Management & CFA and Corporate Financial Management. I am minoring in Consumer Studies, which is granting me a better understanding of consumer behaviors and willingness in the market. The skillset I hope to gain from this degree will prepare me for an intended career in corporate portfolio management. In high school I obtained Microsoft Office certifications through an Advanced Computer Information Systems class I completed. Since obtaining these certifications, I have strengthened my skills most specifically in Excel and Word applications through courses offered at Virginia Tech. Through my involvement in Phi Sigma Pi, I have strengthened my communication and advertisement skills as successful fundraisers require marketing, clear communication, and community involvement. I intend to continue utilizing these skills in my remaining years at Virginia Tech and in my career. Aside from my academic and professional life, family is of utmost importance to me. I have grown to value having a close knit support system, and I hope to one day find or create something similar in my career.
