Bassist and rhythm guitarist of one of the most popular and innovative bands since the 90s, EUPHORIA, Roy has cemented his position as a sensational jewel in the musical scenario of the entire country. Born in 1985 in Calcutta to Kanu Roy and Anima Roy, the young Ashok faced innumerable obstacles on his way up. The path to be the man with magical fingers was not easy at any point. Yet, as a completely self taught musician, with unflinching determination mixed with sheer talent and hard work, life pushed him through all the hindrances to attempt glories yet unreached and undreamt by man. His career started with his involvement in several well known band of Kolkata like CALCUTTA BLUES, JACK RABBIT, KRISHTI, DEENGA and others. Several T.V.shows, Live concerts and Studio Recording in Kolkata and numerous other cities in India marked his promising early days. His works in the album like RAJKANYA (Calcutta Blues) and ANANYA (Jack Rabbit) came out to be smashing hits in the musical circle of Kolkata. The album RAJKANYA(2012), first saw the genius and brilliance of his musical arrangements skills. In the year 2009, he played at MTV ROCK ON where he was accepted as one of the most promising bassists in India by renowned judges like RAM SAMPATH, PALASH SEN, KAILASH KHER, MIKA SINGH, SHAFQUAT AMANAT ALI and others. His performance bound the spells of thousands and inspired them to follow his style. After this exceptional achievement he was included by MTV in the first national band with two bass players named KHILAUGH. The album “Revolution Anyone?” was one of the unreleased works of this short lived band. Then came the big break in 2012, he was selected as the bassist of the famous “EUPHORIA” in the absence of DJ Bhaduri. Presently he is playing the rhythm guitar for the band. He also performed in “THE DEWARISTS” by MTV in December 2013 with Euphoria and did almost 200 live shows with them as bassist and guitarist all over the country and abroad.
