If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.“ - Albert Einstein This quote sums up my career over about 32 years, through divergent roles in government, education and consultancy. Over the last 27 years I was involved in hydrology and water resources, dealing with different aspects from water availability and hydropower potential, design flood estimation for dams using storm analysis to dam break analysis. In my curent role I have introduced flood inundation forecasting for many areas in the country including the north east. I have also led approximately 70 consultancy assignments with state water resources departments nationwide, from preparation of concept note to review of deliverables covering areas like floodplain zoning, irrigation benchmarking, waterlogging alleviation, water availability assessment, embankment asset management system development, and urban flooding mitigation. When not working, you may find me travelling, more often on a long drive.
