About Ashraf Khalil
I am a Professor at the College of Technological Innovation at Zayed University. Prior to joining ZU, I served at Abu Dhabi University as the Director of Research and as a Professor of Computer Science. During my tenure as Director, I developed the university research strategy that led to a 6-fold increase in research productivity and 10-fold increase in external funding. I also established and directed the Center of Excellence for Smart, Entrepreneurial and Sustainable Cities. Additionally, I played an instrumental role in promoting undergraduate research in the UAE as an integral part of university education through running the largest regional competition of undergraduate student researchers for five consecutive years. My research interests are human computer interaction, bioinformatics, ubiquitous and pervasive computing, persuasive computing, privacy and context-aware computing, user testing and usability research.
