About Ashutosh Misra

I hold a PhD in international studies, Master of Arts (gold medal) in history and professional training in conflict resolution and leadership. My over 20 years of academic and research experience has underpinned my engagement successes between India and Australia in the academic and government sectors. Drawing upon my academic expertise in South Asian history and international relations, over 20 years of research experience in South Asian security and politics, over 10 years of stakeholders engagement accomplishments between Australia and India, and strong language and cultural knowledge of India, I am diligently working on establishing the Institute for Australia India Engagement (IAIE) as the Founding Director. It seeks to complement the objectives of the Australia India Strategic Partnership (2009) and promote engagements between the two countries in various fields. I have worked for the United Nations, Jawaharlal Nehru University, the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (Indian Ministry of Defence's think-tank), Griffith Asia Institute, ARC Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security, Griffith Criminology Institute and T.C. Beirne School of Law (University of Queensland), Australia. I have published extensively including three books; lectured internationally; provided policy assessments to diplomats in India and Australia, Indian Parliament and Ministries; and facilitated academic and government engagements between Australia and India. I regularly appear in the electronic and print media in both Australia and India discussing current affairs.
