About Ashwat Narayanan

With a background in civil and transportation engineering, I have dedicated my career to building people centric communities. At WSP, I work to grow and expand our transportation planning and engineering service lines in Minnesota. As an experienced project manager, I lead corridor studies, active transportation projects, Vision Zero and traffic safety studies, EV infrastructure planning and implementation and climate action plans. My project teams include colleagues with national expertise combined with deep local knowledge and a trusted relationship with clients. My work has included the Minnesota Carbon Reduction Strategy, the Minnesota Resilience Improvement Plan, leading work to develop a framework to assess highways for VMT and GHG increases and the City of Bloomington's Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan, among others. Previously, at SRF Consulting Group, I established and led a new practice to help transportation agencies, cities and regions achieve their VMT, carbon reduction, equity and climate goals, build out electric vehicle infrastructure and create multimodal urban streetscapes. I have over 14 years of experience, including four years as executive director at Our Streets Minneapolis, where I grew the organization to being a powerful national voice for putting people first in transportation. I previously co-chaired the MnDOT Sustainable Transportation Advisory Council’s VMT and Transportation Options Workgroup. I represented Minneapolis on Metropolitan Council’s Transportation Advisory Board where I helped move funding to transit, active transportation and safety projects. I have authored several transportation planning and engineering documents and am widely recognized as a powerful speaker on transportation issues.
