Background
About Ashwin Dravid
I am a doctoral researcher in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at Johns Hopkins. My expertise lies in modeling, analysis and computational implementation/simulation of systems, with a particular interest in systems that require expertise from multiple fields. I have subject expertise in the areas of thermodynamics, pharmacokinetics, metabolic engineering, structural and statistical modeling and biomaterials. Additionally, I have base expertise in broad areas of Chemical engineering such as process engineering, fluid dynamics, mass transport, unit operations etc. I also have a conceptual understanding of many biological and physiological processes, partly as a result of coursework in a Biosciences and Bioengineering minor in my undergraduate education and partly as a result of subject knowledge acquired when modeling systems in metabolic engineering and pharmacokinetics. Although I have co-authored 5 research publications, the vast bulk of my research work has yet to be reported in scientific literature, and I am working on publishing 4-6 papers in thermodynamics and pharmacokinetics as well as a textbook on pharmacokinetics (along with Prof Marc Donohue) by December 2024. I have worked in and managed several teams while working on problems related to these areas, and recognize the importance of effective communication and management in generating valuable output sustainably. Through my experiences, I have come to believe that there is tremendous value in collaboration between experts in diverse disciplines and from diverse backgrounds, and enjoy the challenge of tackling unfamiliar problems and communicating with individuals with perspectives, skills and training that differ significantly from mine. I am interested in opportunities that involve systems modeling, project management, and process analysis. Although I am largely ambivalent about the subject matter I would be working on, I have a slight preference for areas in which I have domain-specific knowledge. These domains include thermodynamics and formulation, pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical process development, research and product development, manufacturing and PK/PD. However, I am also open to modeling, analysis and synthesis opportunities in orthogonal fields such as finance. I expect to graduate around Dec 2024-Jan 2025 and would be open to opportunities in roles that commence then. Feel free to reach out to me at adravid1@jhu.edu for more information about the specifics of any of the experiences listed in other parts of my profile
