About Ashwin Pasumarti

My career to date has been about accelerating the adoption of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and other clean technologies in the energy sector. I've been a key contributor to the Midwest Regional Carbon Sequestration Project (MRCSP), which stored over 2 million tons of CO2 deep As one of the world's first such demonstrations, it was an important milestone that paved the way for commercializing the technology. Mega-scale CCS is practical, achievable and a viable solution to climate change. I have been fortunate to have had broad exposure to clean technologies. Over the past several years I've worked alongside energy companies in the US and Asia to develop technical strategies to store multi-million tons of industrial CO2 emissions in oilfields and deep saline aquifers. More recently, I was accountable for a multi-disciplinary team that developed a patented technology for wireless monitoring in CO2 storage wells of the future. I'm a climate optimist. I believe the technologies and strategies humanity needs to combat climate change - like CCS - are fully proven and viable. A future with power generation sans carbon emissions is within reach but capital intensive. I hope the rest of this century can be defined by investing into the infrastructure necessary to transform the way we produce, consume and store energy.
