About Asil Oztekin
Dr. Asil Oztekin is a Professor of Analytics and the Founding Coordinator of the Ph.D. Concentration in Decision Sciences at the Manning School of Business. He is also serving as an affiliated faculty member for the UMASS system-wide inter-campus Biomedical Engineering & Biotechnology graduate program. Additionally, Dr. Oztekin is a member of UMASS inter-campus, interdisciplinary initiative, the Center of Biomedical and Health Research in Data Sciences (CHORDS) as well as at the UML’s Center for Population Health, and a Member (Adjunct Fellow) of the Baystate Health, Institute for Healthcare Delivery & Population Science. He has served as the Vice Chair (Chair-Elect) of the INFORMS Data Mining Society for the 2016-2017 academic year and as its Chair within 2017-2018. Then he served as the INFORMS Subdivisions Council member to represent the 20+ INFORMS sections and is now serving as the INFORMS Data Mining Society representative in the same council between 2023 thru 2025. Dr. Oztekin is a member of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) Executive Board (AY 2023-2025) as the Vice President for Publications. He is also currently serving as a Tenure-Track Faculty At-Large Representative of entire UML faculty within the Board of Massachusetts Society of Professors (MSP). His work has been published in top-tier journals such as Journal of Management Information Systems, European Journal of Operational Research, Decision Support Systems among others. One of his publications entitled “An RFID Network Design Methodology for Asset Tracking in Healthcare” was listed amongst the Most Cited journal articles at the Decision Support Systems journal in 2014. Similarly, another paper of him entitled "Deep learning in business analytics and operations research: Models, applications and managerial implications" has been listed amongst the Most Cited journal articles at the European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR) in 2022. He has served/has been serving as an Associate Editor/Senior Editor/Area Editor/Lead Editor or Editorial Review Board member for: Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Information Systems Frontiers, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Computer Information Systems, Industrial Management & Data Systems, Health Systems, Annals of Operations Research, OMEGA, Journal of Computer Information Systems, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Journal of Decision Systems, Journal of Business Analytics, among several others.
