About Assen Vassilev

Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering: Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany Doctor Degree: At the Laboratory Laboratoire de Mécanique des Fluides et d'Acoustique (LMFA), ECL/UCBL/INSA Lyon France My industrial experience in AREVA/ALSTOM/General Electric Grid Solutions is of 14 years. I've spent 9 years at the R&D Excellence Center for High Voltage Switchgear in Villeurbanne, France. I've gained here a significant experience in new Product Developments of Circuit Breakers acc. to Cost Killing projects, CFD-Optimization Methodes and CFD-supported development accross the R&D-Center. As Senior R&D and Lead Design Engineer of HV ITR in General Electric in Kassel (Instrument Transformers for T&D-Domain), I was responsible during last 5 years for the development of the innovative g³-gas (Green Gas for Grid(R)) and its complete AIS/GIS-portfolio of VTs, CTs and Combined between 72.5kV and 550kV. This role involved not only design work in a small R&D-Team (based on CREO, PLM and SAP), but also cross-functional technical Management of TPM, Engineering, Production, Test Lab, Quality, Sourcing and Supply departments. Part of my responsibilities was also technical documentation, contact to the customers, participation in internal and external committees (IEC national Committee, VDE DKE 471). HIGHLIGHT: First g³-insulated instr. transformers worldwide are successfully installed in March 2017. Since then, several AIS-products with the innovative g³-gas are energized in Germany.
