About Asterios Ozounis

With over 22 years in the airline industry, I have focused heavily on people and commercial management. Working for BA since 1998, I have held several secondment positions, and operated in 2 of London’s airports, Heathrow and Gatwick, as well as in Aberdeen. Wholly customer focused, I develop that mindset in my teams from the day of their induction. I serve the customer, but only by serving my team. My viewpoint is entirely “we”, not “I”. Since 2012 I have been Performance Development Manager (2020 – Present), Absence Manager | Special Project Lead (2017 – 2020), and Team Manager Baggage Logistics (2012 – 2017). With a degree of expertise in technical functions such as flight control, my roles have in effect been promoted posts based on successful delivery – please see all of the details in the roles below. Overseeing initiatives for up to multicultural colleagues across many sites, developing long-lasting relationships with individual trades union representatives, and partnering with associates in Mumbai, India, I am seen as the Go-To for all things People. This is further assisted by my fluency in English and Greek. Setting KPIs for, and assessing, staff performance holistically across the company, I tailor reporting to my exact specifications – which I have prepared by balancing service, revenue, and colleague wellbeing requirements – by filtering evaluation data based on departments, levels, and other criteria for effective calibration meetings. Knowing the skills of a top performer, and recognising those in future high performers, I drive success throughout the company by getting a clear understanding of skills at the team and organisational levels, to help with strategic talent planning and L&D programmes. Working with Ground Handling Agency, Security, HR and Commercial, I ensure full corporate compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental standards and policies. Formally educated in Business Administration Studies, I set and manage team goals, ensuring everyone, managers and colleagues, across all functions are on the same page, by establishing and directing personal goals. I continuously set and track goal progress, associating them with department objectives, and commenting to function executives on blockers that require attention.
