About Astrid Belunta

My current position is working as an RN in an Acute Medical-Surgical Unit. Within my unit, I often take on the roles of Charge Nurse, Mentor and Preceptor to nursing students and new nurses. I work with interdisciplinary teams to advocate for patient-centered quality care. Within the facility, I lead the Shared Governance Practice Committee of the Hospital to create, review, and update all nursing policies. This position allows me to use evidence-based practice research to implement organizational changes to improve patient outcomes.I have had great mentors and role models in my career as a Nurse, so I am inspired to follow the same path and become a Nursing Educator. I currently precept nursing students and new nurses throughout their most crucial learning journeys: their clinicals or preceptorship.
