About Astrid Newton

Results-driven Boston University undergraduate pursuing a B.S. in Political Science and a minor in English. My academic and professional journey is rooted in a passion for understanding how political narratives shape public perception—and how strategic communication can drive meaningful engagement. At BU, I serve as an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Political Science, where I lead outreach initiatives, manage digital content, and engage directly with students, faculty, and alumni. I’ve also gained experience in growth and marketing through campus roles with rapidly growing social apps like Hoppy and SWSH. At SWSH, I build and onboard user partnerships through grassroots outreach, pitching, and relationship-building- leveraging peer networks and personalized engagement. From creating platform-native content to managing stakeholder communications, I bring a cross-functional approach to engagement that blends creativity with strategic insight. I'm especially passionate about digital advocacy, emerging media, and how technology reshapes the way we connect, organize, and understand the world. Outside of the classroom, I engage in philanthropy projects and serve as Recruitment Assistant for my sorority, Alpha Epsilon Phi. I'm especially interested in the future of political communication, digital advocacy, and the role of emerging platforms in shaping civic participation.
