I am currently the Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of D2G Oncology, Inc. D2G leverages quantitative and multiplexed functional cancer genomics to relate drugs to genotypes to transform precision cancer therapeutics. Prior to joining D2G in 2021, I practiced all aspects of intellectual property law as a partner at global law firms. I have twenty-five years of experience in global patent portfolio design, implementation, management, and enforcement in the life sciences, with an emphasis on technology platforms relating to precision medicine, gene editing, next generation sequencing, and cancer genomics. As a law firm partner, I frequently led due diligence investigations for transactions and financings involving life sciences companies and venture capital firms. My experience also includes inter partes review (IPR) proceedings and patent litigation. At Jones Day and McDermott, Will & Emery, I represented companies in many sectors of the life sciences and biotechnology industries, including start-up ventures and Fortune 500 companies. I frequently assisted clients with the development and implementation of streamlined and business-oriented intellectual property strategies. I focused on the shaping of patent portfolios that achieve offensive and defensive goals in view of competitive technologies and life cycle management. I have significant experience in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. patent applications as well as the management of corresponding foreign proceedings. My law firm practice also included the preparation of numerous validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate opinions on life sciences and biotechnology patents. Additionally, a substantial portion of my practice was devoted to patent litigation, and my litigation experience includes participation in two lengthy jury trials involving recombinant DNA technology and immunotherapy, respectively. I have been repeatedly honored by the Daily Journal as one of California's Top 100 intellectual property attorneys as well as one of California's Top 25 patent portfolio managers.
