About Asya Wideman

As a nutritionist at S.C. Department of Health & Environmental Control (DHEC), I provide nutrition education and counseling to individuals and groups apart of the women, infant, and children (WIC) program. I help them achieve their health and wellness goals. I collaborate with other health professionals and community partners to design and implement nutrition programs and initiatives that address the needs and challenges of diverse populations. I also conduct research and evaluation to measure the impact and effectiveness of our nutrition services and interventions.In addition to my current role, I am pursuing a master's degree in health administration at Southern New Hampshire University, where I am learning the skills and knowledge to manage and improve health care systems and organizations. I have a bachelor's degree in public health from University of South Carolina-Beaufort, where I was a student ambassador, resident assistant, president for the Public Health student organization, among others; demonstrating exceptional leadership and communication skills. I am passionate about advancing public health and health equity, and I aspire to become a strong administrative professional in the health sector.
