When I was 12 years old, our teacher asked us to write an essay on our future dream job! And guess what? Even then, I wrote that I want to be a civil engineer. 6 years later, I attended Iran's university national examination, and when the results came out, I had 50 choices, and I used all 50 of them to choose civil engineering programs! During my undergrad, I had the opportunity to work with some of the most qualified professors in my country (I am very thankful), and that paved my road to apply to pursue my goals abroad! In 2014 I received a full-funded position at the State University of New York at Buffalo and worked with very talented and professional individuals. After receiving my M. Sc, I realized that I still did not satisfy my passion for learning, and I craved to push my limits slightly more! That was when I started my Ph. D. under the supervision of the civil engineering Rockstar in Canada, Professor Tighe (if you do not know her already, search her name and get mesmerized by her achievements). In Oct 2021, I sailed to unknown seas (jobs in industry) and was lucky enough to receive an exciting offer from one of the most innovative and professional teams in Metrolinx, AKA Research and Planning Analytics. Since then, I worked on several projects related to the lifecycle and cost analysis of billion-dollar capital projects, research and development, and Business Case development and assurance. As a first-generation immigrant, I went through so many ups and downs and learned that persistence and resilience are keys to success!
