About Atemkeng Andre

Atemkeng Andre is a distinguished environmental and sustainable development expert with demonstrated skills and experience in project writing and conservation. He is passionate about community outreach work that engages communities to define what development they want and to facilitate processes to enable them to achieve their aim. Because local communities are not only victims of environmental degradation but can be active contributors to solutions to these challenges. But often, their Ecological Traditional Knowledge and belief systems are not enshrined and integrated into the conservation process as solutions to these challenges. My research work explores how local communities in Cameroon develop and use their Traditional Ecological Knowledge, practice and belief system for forest conservation and management adaptation and as a source of innovation. I am particularly passionate about exploring the dynamics of traditional institutions and belief systems in forest resources management decision-making and the incorporation of community ecological traditional knowledge and the enshrinement of their belief system into the management laws and policies. My dedication to environmental leadership and sustainability has inspired me to work extremely hard on issues concerning environmental conservation and sustainability. This has earned me a prestigious award in the departmental Environment Award and the prestigious Masters of Science Award from the University of Buea, Cameroon by recognizing my significant contributions and exceptional excellence in my professional career. Beside my professional research work on environmental conservation and sustainable development, I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and Anthropology with a First Class Top Honor Masters of Science Degree in Environmental Anthropology, University of Buea, Cameroon. I'm a Final Year PhD Research Fellow in Environmental Anthropology and Sustainable Development and presently a qualified Graduate Teaching Assistant in the department of Anthropology, University of Buea, Cameroon. I have developed and contributed in articles and published books in various topics related to environmental, forest conservation and sustainability involving community participation in environmental justice by integrating these communities as active contributors to solutions to environmental and forest degradation in Cameroon, Africa and World atlarge.
