About Athanasios Tryferidis

I'm an experienced Senior Project and Technical Manager, holding a B.Eng in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a MSc in Information Systems. I've had a leading role in many R&D projects (H2020 and FP7 EU funded) and commercial product development projects. I have been the Team Leader of small and larger groups of both: i) software development teams, in my former job as a Technical Manager of an innovative SME company - MLS Multimedia S.A, leader in the Greek market of GPS navigation and educational software and ii) R&D teams, during my current position as a Senior Research Associate at CERTH/ITI - among the top Research Centers in Europe and 1st in successful R&D projects in Greece. I have been active, among others, in the field of Smart Cities and Smart Grids and implementation of innovative Demand Response Flexibility programs, integrated systems in Smart Buildings with the use of multi-sensorial topologies and IoT infrastructures, focusing on IoT interoperability based on semantics, ontologies and standards. I have further been involved in energy efficiency optimisation, occupancy detection and prediction algorithms, data profiling and forecasting techniques, along with Human-Computer Interactions and Visual Analytics. My previous work in MLS focused on the integration of linguistic technologies (automated Speech Recognition and Text-To-Speech) with GPS Navigation Systems, further working on interactive and multimodal interfaces utilizing natural language and intelligent agents.
