About Athanasios Tsirelis

I am a Senior Clinical Oncology Consultant and Medical Advisor with extensive experience across Greece, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. With over a decade of clinical and advisory expertise, my background spans oncology, pharmacology, and medical consulting, with a strong commitment to patient-centered care and evidence-based therapeutic innovation. Currently, I serve as a Medical Monitor at PSI CRO AG, overseeing clinical trials with a focus on medical quality, patient safety, and protocol adherence in global oncology studies. My clinical career includes senior consultant and specialist roles in major public healthcare systems such as Region Skåne, Region Östergötland, and Region Syddanmark. These roles have provided me with in-depth expertise in cancer management, multidisciplinary teamwork, and integration of clinical research into routine care. Alongside my clinical work, I have served since 2019 as a Medical Advisor for global healthcare consulting firms including Guidepoint, M3, and Athenaeum. These roles have allowed me to support pharmaceutical and biotech companies with strategic input on clinical development, treatment landscapes, and investigator insights. My foundation in pharmacology was established through a residency in Clinical Pharmacology at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, where I developed a strong understanding of drug mechanisms and development pathways. I also served as a First Lieutenant in the Greek Army, honing leadership and operational decision-making skills in high-stakes environments. I hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and have recently completed advanced training in Hematology and Oncology (CPD-certified, 150 credits) through the Liverpool Academy for Family Medicine. I remain dedicated to advancing oncology care and clinical research through expert medical oversight and collaborative innovation.
