About Atharva Karmalkar
Worked at the genome engineering lab at the University of Westminster under the guidance of Dr. John Murphy and Dr. Kalpana Surendranath, as a part of my research dissertation for 6 months. Experienced at working with human tissue culture, I have handled multiple cancer cell lines at the same time. to name a few I have worked with MG63, U2OS, MDA-MB, MCF-7, etc. I Worked on the U20S cell line to create a ZFP36L1 K/O using CRISPR and successfully managed to isolate monoclones from the parent population as well. I have analyzed NGS ampliseq data using the CRISPResso software. As a part of this, I have also constructed single guide RNAs that target the C-terminal region of ZFP36L1. I have also worked on the TROP2 gene and helped create a Site-directed mutant of the same.
