About Athena Merida

Who else experienced the university tour guide to admissions professional pipeline! ‍I’m a proud graduate of Loyola University New Orleans in Political Science and Sociology. Started my higher education career as a student ambassador in 2017 and worked my way up to Admissions Intern my senior year! After my graduation in 2020, I moved to Baton Rouge to work at Louisiana State University as an Admissions Counselor. Geaux Tigers! I gained valuable experience in recruiting a dynamic first-year class, reading 500+ applications a month, evaluating dual enrollment credit, and academic advising. Death Valley will always have a special place in my heart! I’ve now spent three years in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Vanderbilt University. My recruitment territories have varied from Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Philadelphia to now recruiting in Georgia (excluding Metro Atlanta), Louisiana, Tennessee, Austin and East Texas, and Central/Western Pennsylvania. I assist with onboarding new staff, training and evaluating our application review process, visitor experience, and creating celebratory opportunities in our office! So grateful that I decided to give tours for my alma mater and how that led me to where I am today! All I gotta say is Geaux Wolfpack, Geaux Tigers, and Anchor Down!
