Athena Small is Associate Professor at Kyiv School of Economics, and the host of Refounding Democracy, a social media project in the public interest working on re-imagining and revitalizing democracy for the 21st Century. Small is a trained economist, data scientist and decision scientist, experienced in the domains of energy, environment, and climate change. Notable accomplishments- Principal or Senior Investigator on nearly $1M in grants from U.S. National Science Foundation- Member of Organizing Committee, Workshop on Space Weather, U.S. National Academy of Sciences- Recipient, Award for Quality of Research Discovery, American Agricultural Economics Association- Co-founder, Committee to Establish the National Institute of Finance, a citizens' initiative that led to the establishment under the Dodd-Frank Act of the Office of Financial Research within the U.S. Treasury Department.
