THE LONG : From elections to urban farming, I've spent my career shaping and championing social and educational movements. Taking the reins on an issue, organizing it, and shaping an empowering plan of action lights me up! I'm known for my ability to build bridges (the relationship kind), strengthen capacity to get things done, and take "good" to "GREAT!" I'm always game to analyze complex ideas and infuse a dose of courage to try new ideas and rethink the status quo. And I love working on deadline. My last 15+ years have been spent leading strategic planning, performance evaluation, and recruitment in purpose-aligned organizations. Some highlights: providing people-centered operational leadership to hundreds of staff and volunteers to ensure a transparent, impartial, and accurate election system in one of the largest election operations. recruiting and cultivating top talent and expanding market reach through streamlined systems, like leading the development of a new online recruiting, application, training, scheduling, and communication system for poll workers. baking inclusion into processes. Examples: ensuring election information is easily translated into additional languages and accessible to all. I also created an online application process for over 14K poll workers and the approximately 100 party committee persons who need to review them. engaging high school and college students in the administration of elections, training them to serve as Judges of Election and Polling Place Administrators. planning and executing welcoming events with key influencers, creating inspiration and solidarity for the movements. running and coordinating successful press conferences and news releases to ensure people’s voices are heard and to build engagement for society’s largest problems. ohh. and there was also that time I founded my own urban farm business.
