About Audree Hernandez

I am the Senior Director, Strategy and Process for The Consulting Engineers Group-NM, P.C, a subsidiary of The Consulting Engineers Group, Inc, and a specialty precast engineering firm in Albuquerque (NM). In my role, I work on projects impacting the organization’s strategic priorities and progress. I spend my days identifying and addressing complex administrative and operational issues while working remotely in San Antonio (TX). Before entering the private industry in 2018, I focused my career on addressing college access challenges faced by underserved students. As a first-generation college graduate, I became passionate about supporting and serving high school and college students in their college-going journey. Working with students who needed assistance navigating the difficult college-going process brought me immense joy. As a program leader, I identified, addressed, and removed systemic barriers so students could achieve their goals of earning their undergraduate or graduate degrees. I am incredibly proud of the programs I launched at Trinity University – The McNair Scholars Program in 2008 and the AdviseTX College Advising Corps in 2011. I happily spent countless hours developing program structure and programming, mentoring students and young professionals, designing and delivering training, and building community partnerships to increase the college-going rates in San Antonio. While at Trinity University, I also served as Assistant Director for the TRiO Upward Bound program and advised students at Edgewood ISD and Harlandale ISD. In 2014, I expanded my college access work when I joined College Advising Corps (CAC), a national nonprofit college access program. I served as Regional Director and Senior Director of Programs and led its in-school model with 28 university partners. After a three-year absence, I returned to CAC in 2021 as Director, Strategic Initiatives and later served as Sr. Director, Product and Project Implementation. While I miss college access and working for a nonprofit, I stay connected by reading scholarship applications for several scholarship providers. I am a proud graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio, where I earned an undergraduate degree in Communication and an MA in Adult & Higher Education. My community remains incredibly important to me, so I serve as Board Chair of SA2020, a nonprofit organization committed to driving progress toward San Antonio’s Community Vision.
