After 30 years dedicated to creating and improving family history software programs, the company has become an iconic leader in the world of genealogy: Heredis is #1 in France and ranks in the top 3 in the United States. Besides its continuously innovating technology, Heredis proudly boasts a unique organizational specificity: indeed, since 2014, the company has been owned by its employees who bought the founder’s shares and turned Heredis into a SCOP, the French version of a worker cooperative. The originality of this form of entrepreneurship lies in the way employees are involved at its very core. They are financial and human resources at the same time, committing to the company as co-entrepreneurs who share the same goal: the success of their business.
