About Audrey Salinger
I am a PhD candidate at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. My doctoral research aims to quantify the degree to which genetic factors, and inbreeding in particular, are influencing individual health, mortality, and population recovery in endangered cetacean populations. I am currently working with data from North Atlantic right whales and St. Lawrence beluga whales. I hold a Master of Science in biology with a specialization in marine ecology and resource biology from the University of Tromsø, Norway, and a Bachelor of Science in environmental science with a minor in conservation biology from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Broadly, I am interested in studying the ecological responses of organisms to climate change and the conservation and management applications of such research. I have particular interest in the application of genomics to aid in the conservation of endangered or high-latitude marine mammal populations.
