About Augie Bishop

I recently graduated from the Miami University Farmer School of Business in May 2023 where I majored in Accountancy and minored in Fashion. I earned both a Master of Accountancy and Bachelor of Science degree which allowed me to accumulate the credits to become CPA eligible. I have since passed all four sections of the exam and will continue to obtain the working hours necessary to apply for my CPA licensure. Some of my greatest strengths are planning, organization, and my enthusiasm to collaborate with others so I am naturally inclined toward pursuing a career in Accounting. I completed several courses at Miami where I learned essentials such as Business Finance, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Professional Communication, and Business Analytics. This vigorous coursework, along with personal determination, resulted in my team being named finalists for the 2020 Client Challenge. We were tasked with creating an innovative solution to a real-world problem and presenting our findings to representatives and staff. It was a great experience that allowed me to gain a crucial understanding of responsibility, creativity, and professionalism. Back home, I am a member of Zion Lutheran Church where I have the privilege to further my interpersonal skills through fellowship events and volunteer opportunities. In addition, I was able to shadow our Treasurer and gain valuable knowledge of day-to-day business operations. I observed the process of Accounting for the end of the fiscal year through the closing of accounts and interpreted the financial statements for the upcoming annual budget plan. In addition, I was able to familiarize myself with the online Accounting system Church 360° Ledger where I was able to enter and record the checks and deposits for the week. Developing these skills was a critical part of my summer and I hope to only further them in the future. Throughout these experiences, I have learned that following your dreams and making a difference in the world can go hand-in-hand. I strive to create a life for myself where both of these play an important role. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to enhance my abilities and further my development.
