Background
About August Mallos
Hello, I'm August - a story-teller who loves every part of the production process. I began formal dance training at the age of three and joined various vocal clubs and small community productions through school. I have been a child extra in various films, and performance was my gateway into the world of entertainment. This continued into performing arts high school, where I studied musical theatre, sang, danced, performed, and worked as a Production Assistant with film makers. I have always moved across department lines in order to soak up as much knowledge as I can. I started college online and spent 6 months in Studio City, CA learning I wanted to do more than perform on set. I moved to Gainesville, FL and studied Media Production at University of Florida. I wasn't scheduled for any in-person classes upon transfer, so I found other ways to be there. I joined the student-run radio, GHQ. I hopped on productions headed by student organizations, FEM Films and Chompics. I joined a course learning Live News production, working my way up through each role while teaching those around me, quickly becoming a director. When I heard UF was installing an Automation system in their Innovation News Center, I was the first student to learn and operate it on-air. When I discovered WUFT Media Services filmed a music show with local artists in the basement studio, I learned and worked my way from cam-op to audio-mixer to director. Media Services does bite-sized documentary? Hop in the van for a shoot across town. GHQ offered a paid promotions position and I took the chance. Organized original podcast content with co-workers. Produced more podcast content. Media Services offered a paid production position and the chance to do more. I accepted. Now, in a day I might direct the news, edit for a few hours, set-up the Fx9 and Fx6's for a shoot, film, strike, create assets and animate them for a socials vertical promo, set-up a documentary timeline for a student, mix audio for a three-piece band, and write script. I've recently completed my degree, so at night I tend to work on cementing myself as a working man in the industry. Otherwise, I'm teaching myself to use Clip Studio Paint for animation.
