About August Ritter

I've worked in a number of security positions providing me with extensive hands on experience. I pass this experience on to my students through self defense. I began my training at the age of 12 in several forms of martial arts including Wing Tsun, Jeet Kune Do, boxing, kick boxing, BJJ, Etc. In 2004 I became a certified Defensive Tactics instructor under Dave Fowler and began teaching members of public safety to include security, law enforcement and military. In 2007 I discovered Israeli Defensive Tactics also known as Krav Maga. Soon after I became a certified instructor with Krav Maga Worldwide. In 2013 I became a certified instructor under Master Gabi Noah and International Krav Maga. Now I am a certified instructor under Expert Tsahi shemesh with Krav Maga Experts. I am passionate about Krav Maga, self-defense and passing this knowledge through service to my students. I continue to train with Krav Maga practitioners and instructors from Israel and around the world. I've saught to train with the best in the world. From members of Mossad to Masters of the discipline. The more I train, the more I know simplicity and refinement are two of the most important aspects of self defense. The more you train, the more humble you become. Training must be as realistic as possible, dynamic, unpredictable and variable. It has to place stress upon it's practitioners. Not all self defense is created equal and not all Krav is created equal. We must continue to evolve all elements of self defense and continue to refine and discard what is no longer useful. It must work under chaotic circumstances. Self defense is more about timing, tactics, experience and training. Much more so than techniques. Techniques often fail us. If it's pretty and complicated, chances are it will not succeed.
