About Augustine Ayeni

Dr. Augustine O. Ayeni is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. He had a brief stay in the oil industry as an Environmental/Safety Engineer. He was the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria from 2018-2021. He is a Registered Engineer with the Council of Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. He has over nineteen (19) years of teaching. research, and community service experience in the university, locally and globally (Nigeria, India, South Africa, Sweden, and The Netherlands). His research specialization/interests include biochemical engineering, environmental engineering, pollution and corrosion controls, chemical kinetics and reaction engineering, and energy/bioenergy engineering. His years of teaching and research have earned him various awards such as the Ph.D. research grant of Chief S.L. Edu memorial award in 2008 sponsored by Chevron Petroleum Nigeria in association with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation, Lekki, Nigeria. In 2009, He was awarded an Advanced Research and Training Fellowship sponsored by TWAS, Italy, and tenable at National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur, in India (2010-2011). Through the URC-NRF, South Africa grant holder linked fellowship, he was at the University of Witwatersrand, School of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, Johannesburg, South Africa from 2015 to 2017 for his postdoc. experience. Dr. Ayeni is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers as well as the SAIChE. He has contributed substantially to the advancement of chemical engineering and applied sciences through peer-reviewed publications of over 100 book/book chapters, journal articles, conferences, and under- & postgraduate students' research project supervisions. He is the Editor of the books Bioenergy and Biochemical Processing Technologies: Recent Advances and Future Demands and Advanced Manufacturing in Biological, Petroleum, and Nanotechnology Processing: Application Tools for Design, Operations, Cost Management, and Environmental Remediation as well as the co-editor of the book “Valorization of Biomass to Value-Added Commodities: Current Trends, Challenges, and Future Prospects” published by Springer Nature Switzerland AG in 2020. Dr. Ayeni has been a regular Assessor in the THE World University Rankings 2023 – THE’s Academic Reputation Survey. He is a frequent reviewer for many high-impact scientific journals. & hl=en
