About Augustine Rouamba

I am an Applied Epidemiologist with extensive experience in public health, infectious disease surveillance, and disaster preparedness. Currently, I serve as a Maternal, Child, and Health Applied Epidemiologist at the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS), where I conduct surveillance, investigations, and analyses of infectious diseases, including managing high-profile outbreaks such as COVID-19. My work involves close collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies to deliver data-driven insights that inform impactful public health policies and interventions. I hold a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from the Colorado School of Public Health, with research focused on malaria prevention and control, and a Disaster Preparedness Certificate from Colorado State University. Additionally, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and am currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Health Epidemiology at Walden University, specializing in maternal mortality and mental health. With over 12 years of fundraising experience, I have successfully secured more than $1.8 million for global health initiatives, including the construction of wells in Burkina Faso, Kenya, and Brazil. These projects have improved water access and hygiene, benefiting thousands in underserved communities. I have also played a pivotal role in addressing disparities in diabetic retinopathy screening among minority populations by collaborating on culturally sensitive interventions that promote equitable healthcare access.
