About Augusto Mathias

Augusto Mathias is the founder of Toronto International Consultants and the International Change Agents Network, Co-founder of Quartz - Promotion of Development Ltda. Augusto has held a range of positions with the City of Toronto municipal government: Healthy City Planner, Community Health Officer, Multicultural Health Coordinator, Race Relations Coordinator and Diversity Management and Community Engagement Consultant. As Healthy City Planner, Augusto coordinated the implementation of multidisciplinary and multisectoral partnerships to develop integrated, practical and cost-effective solutions to identified urban challenges. Augusto serves on advisory committees in Canada and abroad. He has also served on the boards of several Toronto community groups and provincial organizations addressing issues of multiculturalism, environment, racism, equity and access, AIDS, drugs, sexuality, youth, persons with disabilities, and seniors. Former International Advisor with the National Confederation of Municipalities in Brazil and lectures internationally within academic institutions and governments. In 2021 he became an Advisor to Agir Social for citizenship and diversity issues. He also provides support to community organizations and coalitions with strategic planning, program planning, evaluation, communication strategies, trouble-shooting, and advocacy strategies. In his capacity as change agent with the International Change Agents Network, Augusto has participated in exchanges with many countries including Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, China, Cuba, Denmark, El Salvador, England, Finland, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Sweden, Taiwan, Tanzania and the United States. Augusto’s greatest strengths lie in his ability to inspire increased grass-roots participation by communities in decision-making processes, to identify and address urban challenges, and to support community involvement and the creation of sustainable partnerships.
