About Aurica Hurst

I have upheld roles as social worker, community organizer and an educator. I have over fifteen years working in my hometown of Philadelphia where I worked in community spaces as sexual health counselor, youth WorkReady Coordinator and facilitated positive engagement programs for youth and young adults. I currently live in Los Angeles where I served as youth career counselor, community organizer, and I continue to support staff as teachers assistant. I enjoy writing proposals for youth programs, and research for grants. After serving as AmeriCorps VISTA in college at Mayors office under the career workforce strategy department I on boarded interns, organized meeting materials and supported staff in meetings with note-taking, research and data reports, email and outreach. Afterwards, I quickly became engaged in social justice and activism as a Lead Community Organizer, Social Justice Institute facilitator and Youth Advocate working with foster-care and justice involved youth. I led housing justice campaigns that were successful and supported worker rights.campaigns. In the coming years leading me to do free lance work, I have written over hundred different lesson plans, curriculum materials, grant and policy writing, organized and facilitated countless workshops and participated in leading quarterly training. Temple University is where I gained my knowledge of technology and media; I use both in my career to create products and data-driven tools. I enjoy public speaking, research, collaboration, and supporting others. I continue to create people first problem-solving. I have used my engagement tools and my creative lens to support strategic communication between myself and peers.
