About Austin Anderson

I have an extensive amount of experience in the construction industry dating back to early childhood years simply going to work with my old man, a single father with 2 boys who couldn't always afford daycare. I started with just picking up blocks and trash around the jobsites and moving material from here to there for the crewmen. I finally got to use a nailgun around 7 years old, fastening temporary braces to the walls whenever they yelled "NAIL IT!" That soon morphed into being able to use the circular saw at age of 13. This early start catapulted me into a leadership role on the jobsite, excelling in skills men twice my age could only dream to possess. After years of hard labor wearing tool bags, I sought after a role in management. With the lack of a college degree it was quite arduous to find, nonetheless, I acquired it with Habitat for Humanity. A wonderful time that was working with volunteers and the future homeowners, being able to take the time to teach proper construction methods to those who earnestly wanted to learn and to build homes for such grateful characters. When an opportunity sprouted for a superintendent position for a production home builder I eagerly went for the change in pace. The time spent there allowed me to hone my skills in scheduling, building vendor and sub contractor relations, and gave me a platform to learn so much more about the ins and outs of residential construction i.e. being able to pick the brains of the professionals in different fields from various sub contractors to the city and 3rd party inspectors. Now, since the downturn in the residential new construction industry, I am back to independent contracting for the time being, looking to once again gain a position with a prominent construction company that focuses on quality, integrity, and innovation.
