About Austin Barnes

I have spent many years working in various roles across the world of sports. Many of these roles have consisted of event organization and management of sporting events. I have spent eight years working with youth sports in various roles with my largest being with North American Junior Golf. My years of experience in the sport industry go all the way back to my high school days in which I would help my local golf instructor with various things such as golf camps and tournaments. Toward the end of my high school days, I began working part-time for North American Junior Golf, or NAJG, and I also took a part-time job as a golf cart attendant at The Chimneys Golf Course. My position at The Chimneys was pretty standard as I cleaned carts, watched the counter in the pro shop, and many other various tasks that were required to keep the golf course looking its best. During my time with NAJG, I was promoted from part-time to full-time staff after showing great leadership and organization skills in the opportunities I was given to run my own events. The many transferrable skills I developed in this role were communication, organization, and management of a staff. I recently worked as a referee for youth flag football and a scorekeeper for youth basketball with Oconee County Parks and Recreation. These positions gave me more opportunities to see other parts of the sports industry as I was able to work together with a team of people to ensure the guys went smoothly. Now I have taken a part-time role as Youth Pastor at Crossroads Church of Jackson County. This position has allowed me to use a lot of my skills I have learned and apply them in a different setting. I get to work and spread my passion for Jesus and I still intend on getting a job in my passion of sports as well.
