I currently am the Safety and EMS Manager at Utah's Hogle Zoo. I have been a certified Emergency Medical Technician since 2001. Prior to my current role, I worked for the zoo in many different capacities part-time, starting in 1995. Hogle Zoo is a one-of-a-kind place, and I have always enjoyed striving to ensure that our patrons are safe and comfortable and able to experience the wonders of the animal world. From a hassle-free ticket purchasing experience, to reuniting a child separated from her group, to communicating with a family using American Sign Language, I have experience working with employees and patrons in a variety of ways. I excel in decision making under stress, with an ability to adapt to ever-changing conditions with patrons and employees. Understanding and implementing policies regarding guests and employees is paramount to promoting a positive and safe environment. My work as an EMT, as well as my time working with the public in various other jobs, has helped me gain valuable experience developing and following procedures which ensure high levels of quality service for patrons, and a mutually respectful rapport with colleagues. I have experience working with different types of point of sale software and am proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite products. Patience and perseverance are key to troubleshooting situations with people and with technology. Working in various retail and training venues has given me skills regarding various technical systems, as well as opportunities to maximize sales and promote goods and services.
