About Austin Darrell

From an early age, I have known that a career in social services is where I belong. When I was 13, I lost my brother in an accident, and throughout the trials following his passing, I developed a deep passion for helping others through turbulent times. Eventually this passion led me to attend Walsh University where I spent 5 years studying social science and I earned my Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Sociology. While earning my degree, I also supported myself by working at an entry level position at GameStop. I was determined to move up and by honing my excellent customer service skills, I was promoted to a supervisor. Although the experience I gained learning how to manage others was extremely valuable, I accepted a position as a contractor at Allen Keith so I could grow my skill set in a new direction. Working as a contractor has allowed me to keep developing my personal and professional skills and taught me more about just how pertinent teamwork and time management is. However, I have found myself thinking back to my brother and my passion for helping others frequently and know deep down that it is now time to dive back into the social services where I belong. Outside of work, I am a Junior High Ministry Leader at Faith Family Church, where I work with other leaders to improve their interpersonal growth and lead small group discussions with the students. I write and produce my own music as well as organize concerts and events as a means of fundraising for local charities. These volunteer experiences have been extremely fulfilling and have doubled my resolve to work in this field. I am now seeking a position where I can use my communication, listening, and interpersonal skills to make an impact on the community youth of underserved and underrepresented populations.
