About Austin Gress

As a Grants Management Specialist at FEMA, I apply my expertise in emergency management and disaster science to support the mitigation of disasters. I review project documentation, make final determinations, and issue closeouts in compliance with grant-related requirements. I also provide technical assistance and interpret federal and DHS financial assistance administration policies and provisions for recipients. Previously, I worked as an Emergency Management Specialist 3 at FEMA, where I assisted in preparing field office emergency management plans and policies, procedures, and risk assessments. I facilitated on-going communications with internal operations staff and corresponding operational staff of other Federal agencies. I also analyzed inspection reports, final vouchers, and Federal and/or State audit reports on public assistance programs, and prepared recommendations for required follow-up actions. I hold a Master of Science in Emergency Management and Disaster Science from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Oklahoma.
