About Austin Lin

M.S. Mechanical Engineering University of Iowa. B.S. Physics University of Denver I conducted research with the Astronomy department. I then took my passion for the field and theoretical mathematical analysis to study more about their applications in the world through the Mechanical Engineering M.S. program. My time spent working with the astronomy department, both assisting with others' current projects and subsequently conducting my own for my senior thesis, provided me with valuable experience in working with a team and as an individual. Projects I became involved with included the testing of a custom polarization filter for telescopes, using photometric analysis software to investigate telescopic images, and conducting polarimetry observations of stellar bow shocks. As a Nondestructive Evaluation engineer, I work with our team to develop and deploy inspections for engine maintenance in a variety of applications and customers. A background in physics and lab R&D has prepared me to take the lead in critical situations to maintain and enhance engine safety in the aerospace industry. In addition to technical engineering work, I lead our team as the military coordinator, working with the Air Force and Navy to coordinate project development and inspector training. This has allowed me to travel the country and work with individual units and inspectors to make sure they are trained and able to perform maintenance on fighter jets.
