About Austin Mount

As a child, I was always told that I could be whatever I wanted to be. Unlike my friends, I never thought that being a famous football player or music artist was dream worthy. What did I want? I wanted to make the world a better place and my muse was science.My hero was my great-grandfather, who helped send the first monkey into space during his career (it didn’t even have a license, I asked). He taught me that science is a world of its own, where even the smallest contribution can have a tremendous effect on our future. I have no interest in making ripples. I want to show off my cannonball! All I wanted to do was take things apart to see how they worked (my family’s computer was never the same) but as I progressed through school, I discovered an unrivaled love for Biology! When I would tell people my major, Cell and Molecular Biology, they would always act so astounded. I learned that when you tell your classmates that an advanced scientific field is easy for you, they judge you pretty harshly (especially when they are 4 years older than you because you graduated from high school with an Associate’s Degree).
