About Avery Danyluk

My name is Avery and I am a Bachelor of Arts student at Thompson Rivers University. I am working towards my degree with a major in Geography and Environmental Studies and a minor in Language and Global Studies. During my time at TRU I had the opportunity to participate in a Modern Languages Field school and to study abroad for two semesters, both in Japan. My time overseas increased my appreciation for different cultures and challenged me to adapt to new situations. In addition to completing my studies, I have worked as a TRU Study Abroad Ambassador, a server, and in multiple youth-centered positions. These experiences helped foster my interpersonal, leadership, and problem solving abilities. In January 2020 I fell in love with the field of disaster management and recovery while doing independent research for a directed study. My research has inspired me to pursue a graduate degree in disaster management and risk, and I am eager to further my studies. Until then, I am looking for new experiences and career opportunities where I can share my research, communication and critical thinking skills.
