Background
About Avery Day
Hello my name is Avery Day, I am a current senior at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (CIDA accredited program) studying Interior and Product Design with a minor in Construction Management. Throughout my undergraduate, I have been apart of various organizations that have helped persevere to enhance my time management skills, knowledge and critical thinking skills. Design, for me, embodies innovation that shapes the future. As designers, we possess the power to instigate change that enhances our environment and promotes mental and physical well-being. Reflecting on my role as a designer, I envision boundless opportunities to transform the world we inhabit. Whether it's buildings, highways, or artwork, these elements surround us daily, influencing our identities, preferences, and perspectives. My decision to pursue design stems from a desire to positively impact those around me, fostering comfort, security, and safety while shaping perceptions of the world. My formative years at a STEM-focused charter school nurtured a passion for hands-on learning, fostering innovative approaches to product development. Early exposure to software like Minecraft and Sims further fueled my aspiration to design buildings and communities. I firmly believe that each stage of the design process holds the potential to profoundly affect lives. Embracing a "design with" mindset rather than merely "design for" can create meaningful impacts on individuals, communities, and ecosystems alike. Looking ahead, I aim to attain NCIDQ certification, validating my expertise in commercial or residential design. My ongoing commitment involves integrating sustainability and well-being standards into my projects, alongside cultivating positive relationships to build collaborative networks based on trust. By sharing insights and experiences, I aspire to elevate appreciation for design and collectively influence how people engage with their environments.
