About Avery Dobson

Throughout my many experiences working with children and adolescents I have become more and more interested in their development. Making a positive impact in others lives at each of the positions is where my heart is vested. Encouraging, redirecting and always striving to be a compassionate listener is my goal. At my current position with Life Stance Health or my past internship in my Bachelor’s with A Better Way Services INC, I am learning skills and applications that will enhance my future as a clinical mental health counselor, but even at the start of my job seeking, guiding campers, keeping others safe and supporting others has been my objective from the beginning as a young teen. This passion for helping others, especially adolescents and children followed me to Ball State University, where I studied Psychology with a minor in Sociology. My objective is to be a counseling psychologist for adolescents, with my own private practice. This area of study has allowed me to pursue my love for sharing insight, care, redirection, coping skills, all while being a great listener for any child. As for my future, I hope to excel in working alongside children, helping them solve problems, learn more about themselves, and how to cope in various ways to better prepare them for their future, as well as living a mentally healthier future. Currently, I am attending graduate school in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Grand Canyon University to further pursue my field of study and becoming a psychologist, working with adolescents who struggle with depression and anxiety.
