About Avinash Bisram

Technical Skills & Tools: Python, R, SQL, Tableau, PowerBI, Snowflake, Microsoft Excel Graduate student with a background in Data Science and Computer Science. I quickly adapt to new environments and leverage my knowledge to automate existing processes, uncover insights with queries and dashboards, and create accurate prediction models using Machine Learning. Here are a few examples of my work: • In 10 weeks as a JetBlue intern, I went from having no previous knowledge of the airline industry to working on 3 projects simultaneously while also attending intern events and meetings. • I produced a 900+ line R script that cleans and transforms schedule data on flights per month, then makes retime suggestions to reduce the risk of crew disruptions. This script was fully productionized in the scheduling process as of September 2023 (I also identified and resolved an oversight in another script which increased the number of potential retimes by ~21%!). • I wrangled 5+ Snowflake tables, CTEs, and views using SQL to build a new data source for flight/inflight pairing information. I then created a Tableau dashboard with 3 views and 20+ calculated measures to visualize trends over time. • I worked with a team of 3 other interns to pitch a novel cost-saving idea to JetBlue's Senior Leadership Team. This involved meeting with crewmembers of various teams, creating an implementation timeline and cost estimate, designing UI mockups, and combining it all into one cohesive presentation. The final idea allowed integration into existing JetBlue software and projected to save the company 10 million dollars per year paying itself back within the first year. • At the end of the internship, I was one of 3 interns out of 20 to receive an extension, allowing me to continue working with my team for an additional 3 weeks. I pride myself on my relentless hunger to keep improving and sharing the knowledge I gain with others. I seek out new Data Science topics in articles or courses and also save some time to read a few pages of a new book every day.
