Make your own path and never give up- MJ Korvan Hi, my name is Avinash, I am an Oil & Gas Industry Maverick. I thank my stars that I always had the best company of friends who motivated and pushed me to join Engineering in 1976. Its a funny story, I had assumed that after graduating High School I would move to Mumbai in search of a job so that I could help my family. Fate would have it that I ended up in Jabalpur Engineering College, I made some of the most fond memories of my life in those 5 years of Engineering. Life took its course and I got my first job in ONGC in 1982 and thus began my journey in the OILFIELD. I moved to Dehradun, Cambay and later Mumbai. Somewhere the spirit of doing something different was always present in me and once again I decided to quit a stable, cushy job in 1996. Reliance was just starting out then in O&G space in India and I immediately joined and helped setup their Drilling Operations for India Region. After two years, I was ready for my next Challenge with Baker Hughes in Myanmar for a brief period and then I setup the Rajasthan Project for Shell(now Cairn’s Asset) from BHI’s. The changed the course of my life completely, while I help setup the operations for Cairn Energy, UK in India. Late 2001 gave me the opportunity to move off to the much talked about place in Oil Industry after Houston - ABERDEEN. For the next 3 years I worked offshore/onshore in the famed North Sea for KCA DEUTAG on their project with Shell on various Shell platforms like Tern Alpha which later sold to Fairfield Energy. 2005 I joined Shell U.K. LTD where I authored Well Engineering Technical Standards on Casing and Tubing Design, Well Abandonment, Barrier Policy and Well Intervention for EP Europe. 2007 I moved back to India, to handle Transocean’s Team where in I successfully managed ONGC’s Integrated Services project for 5 JU rigs on West Coast of India with minimal or Zero NPT during entire 3 years of operation in the project. 2011 I decided to work in the P&A field and went on to work with CNR International where I was responsible for the Planning and Execution of the Complete Abandonment Lifecycle of Murchison Platform. I also lead Consultant Drilling Engineer for the Well Engineering Team for CNR’s Ivory Coast Project. 2016 I joined Foresight Offshore Drilling and commissioned the startup of their 2 brand new Jack Up rigs Vivekanand-1" and "Vivekanand-2" in Mumbai Offshore for ONGC.
